Originating in 2006, the founding principle for the GISC was to tap the synergies between government and private sector to rapidly provide innovative analysis and planning support to advance the Command’s global missions. The GISC harnessed the capabilities resident among private industry, academia, national laboratories, government agencies, the Intelligence Community and allies to provide unique global strategies, timely courses of action and new operational tools and analyses in support of the Command’s global war fighters. In 2008, as the Command aligned resources to its Lines of Operations, the GISC was tasked to provide operational assessments of our UCP-assigned missions and strategic assessments to support Command planning processes.

Interns are selected from academic institutions with which the J9 already has established relationships. Candidates are recommended by Department Head and senior faculty who are asked to submit their best and brightest graduate and under-graduate students for nomination. Applicants are individually interviewed and selected based on the multi-disciplinary requirements of the projects. Interns are hired as Government Service (GS) Civilian employees under the Student Temporary Employment Program (STEP) and work part-time at the J9 for the entire semester for which they are selected.

This event combines the highly successful Cyber and Space Symposia and will provide an exciting venue for information exchange among leaders in cyber and space. This symposium will delve into tough issues while fostering innovation and collaboration between the private sector and government.
